Preflight Nerves July 6, 2023
Mom and I were very excited when we woke Thursday morning. It was a busy few hours of double and triple checking the packing lists. Grayson took a break from work and dropped us off at the Pensacola airport 11am, Thursday morning. We had everything prepared and ready for the two long flights ahead of us. However, there was no denying the tension in the air.
It was easy to see that the all 112 chickens were quite nervous. For most of them, this was their first time flying. I assured them that this was indeed the right time to fly the coop. I also showed them the pepto and motion sickness meds that I packed just in case anyone really struggled. Most importantly, I encouraged them to not run around with their heads’ cut off.
We didn't want to perpetuate the stereotype.
Needless to say, the ladies calmed down when they realized there was plenty of onboard entertainment and snacks. It was only the first leg of their journey, but they did well on the Pensacola to Houston stint. We landed with plenty enough time to explore the airport and people watch. Some of the ladies even made friends. Now we are just waiting to board the next flight to Paris. They have announced a few delays, but it seems that we are finally moving. It's only an hour and a half delay, so we may have time to run to our next gate. My hope is that we still arrive in time for our transfer in Paris, but at this point, it is out of our hands/wings.
